2026 Mid-Year Update

An Update on All The Things

Friends, I’ve been busy the last few months, but silent here. I thought it would be a good idea to swing by and give you an update.

The YouTubes

Near the beginning of 2026 I decided to jump into the video podcast whirlpool of YouTube. It has been several months of research, learning editing, thumbnails, audio, lighting, the Rodecaster Video, and on and on and on. If this part of the adventure is anything, it is a learning adventure. Everything you use. Everything you do. Every part of the process. It is all new when you’ve never done it before. I am happy that I jumped into the opportunity, and I continue learning every single time I record a video.

My first video interview

Here is some time I spent with Dr. Keith Plummer. Keith is a gracious friend and brother who has read broadly, thought deeply, and speaks eloquently. We discuss “a generalist in a specialist’s world”, Gen Z and screen fatigue, hopeful signs among Gen Z and beyond, and impactful theologians who have had formative impact on Dr. Plummer. As I continue learning, mistakes were made and lessons were learned. 🙂

You can watch the interview by clicking the image below.

I have several more interviews in the works. They will take a little while to blossom, but I am seriously looking forward to them.

Recommended YouTube channels

Briefly, I can recommend the following channels heartily.

First, Dr. David Gustafson has launched a new podcast, entitled Gospel Witness. You can check out his channel and his interview with Dr. Sam Chan by clicking on the respective images below.

Second, Brandon D. Smith has been running his Church Grammar podcast for a longer time. He has made the foray into video. You can check out his channel and his interview with Gavin Ortlund.

Third, Gavin Ortlund continues his work with Truth Unites. Gavin is a gracious speaker, even in his critiques. You can see his channel and his interview with Wes Huff by clicking on the respective images below.

My Local Church

Am working on some projects for my church, to be revealed later this year.

My pastor and me will be creating an irregularly scheduled series. These will be brief videos of Q&A, usually focused on some aspect of the current sermon series. I think this is a great idea and am looking forward to it.

We will also be trying an experiment with video testimonies from a variety of our people in the congregation.

I have an opportunity to preach in July, 2026. We will dig into 1 Peter chapter 2 again. The series continues, spanning several years of irregular opportunities in the pulpit.

Writing projects

nI have been researching a topic in apologetics, addressing in some detail various claims made by the Jehovah’s Witnesses concerning Jesus Christ. This is proving to be a painfully slow process, but I will continue and produce a video, setting forth the case for historic Christianity and against the Watchtower position.

See you again soon, God willing.
