With a killer title like this, anyone reading further is either very interested or very, very interested in understanding who God is. Many sermons and songs today seek to find an intersection between our emotional experiences and God’s being. When I encounter these, I’m left with a nagging question, “Is this what the Bible teaches us about God?”
In today’s post, we will look to a recent issue of Credo Magazine. They spent time diving into the historic doctrine of the impassibility of God. We will be spending the next several Mondays with this doctrine, to try to give you a feel for the biblical and historic position without drowning you in a flood of links. Personally, I don’t like to drink from a doctrinal firehose and I’m assuming you’re bent in a similar way.
The initial article is written by Charles J. Rennie. Pastor Rennie has spent considerable energy towards understanding the biblical grounds of impassibility. It isn’t an exhaustive study, but it will help you see the essentials surrounding this doctrine in the span of a few minutes.
