Dr. Daniel J. Treier passed away on December 22, 2025. I was not a student of Dr. Treier. I became aware of his work relatively recently through a friend who recommended him as a helpful theologian and writer. I believe his first work I purchased was Lord Jesus Christ, published by Zondervan. Shortly after, I followed this up with several of his volumes, from an introductory evangelical theology text to the Evangelical Dictionary of Theology, and others.
I first heard him speak at an EFCA Theology Conference on theological anthropology. It was a stretch for me to follow along. He was an academic theologian exploring the topic with a large group of EFCA pastors. Although the struggle to grasp his work was real, I wanted to continue to work at it. His reputation for rigorous and orthodox theology drove my commitment to continue working.
What follows is a collection of resources by Dr. Treier.
First, we have a youtube playlist collecting several of Dr. Treier’s addresses and interviews.
Second, here is a spotify playlist highlighting Dr. Treier’s appearances on the Church Grammar podcast with Dr. Brandon D. Smith.
Finally, a tribute from some friends of Dr. Treier.
